Massachusetts, History
Deacom Samuel Wheelock (Samuel/Gershom/Ralph) and his son Captain Gershom
Wheelock were early settlers of this town. Gershom built the first house in
Shrewsbury ("The Whistling House") on land given to him by his
father. This website contains a history of Shrewsbury with many references
to Samuel and Gershom. It also has the complete book of Shrewsbury Vital
Records to 1850 online!

Massachusetts, History
Paul Wheelock (Paul/Samuel/Samuel/Gershom/Ralph) of Shrewsbury removed to
Grafton, Ma. His descendents flourished in this town. Among these was Jerome
Wheelock, who invented a more efficient way to manufacture steam engines.
This invention made him rich. His picture and biography can be found here,
and a discussion of his legacy - the construction of memorials to his memory
- can be found here.
One such memorial is his statue in the center of Grafton, MA. This website
contains an excellent history of Grafton, a nearly complete list of
cemeteries in Grafton, and numerous other links of interest to genealogists
with ancestors in this small New England town.

Massachusetts, History and Genealogy
Some of the earliest Wheelocks in Massachusetts lived in Lancaster and
Leominster. Joseph Wheelock (Joseph/Gershom/Ralph) was one of the earliest
settlers of Lancaster. He may have lived in that portion of Lancaster which
later became Leominster. Many of his progeny inhabited Leominster. This
website contains a history of Leominster, with links to related materials.
