Joel Wheelock served in the Revolutionary War. He marched from New Ipswich, NH, before daylight on April 20, 1775, in response to the Lexington Alarm. In the list of men marching with him was Timothy Wheelock, probably his brother.

There was a Joel Wheelock, b. Mar 1785 in New Ipswich, NH, d. 26 Sep 1871, Sweden, Monroe, NY, m. ca. 1806 Chloe Eddy, Smithfield, Madison, NY. He is probably the son of this Joel.

"The History of New Ipswich, NH, 1735-1914", by Charles Henry Chandler, assisted by Sarah Fiske Lee, Sentinel Printing Company, Fitchburg, MA, 1914, has the following to say about Joel:

He married "Elizabeth ____. His farm was to the east from Kidder Mountain, just separated from it by the old country road, and later owned by Earl Boynton. He is said to have removed to Vermont about 1800. He had one child who died before his removal, but its name is not recorded."
