  • Was Hugh de Whelock a French Norman? , by Kevin R. Wheelock, Prince William County, VA, Feb 12, 2011.

PDF format. This essay puts forth the thesis that Hugh de Whelock was a French Norman. Hugh de Whelock was the earliest known bearer of the Wheelock surname. He lived in England during the 12th century, and is presumed to be the earliest ancestor of Rev. Ralph Wheelock. If Hugh was a French Norman, then all of us with Wheelock ancestry have Norman blood.

Kevin updated his thesis with an addendum, which can be downloaded here.
