He is enumerated in the 1880 census living in Boston, age 34, shoe dealer, with his wife, Fannie, age 28, their daughter Francis H, age 3, son John E, age 2, and his brother Edmund S. age 21, and mother, Abby W. age 60, all born in Massachusetts.

He was deceased by 6 Mar 1897, when the Boston Globe announced that in his will he left $5000 to the Massachusetts homeopathic hospital to pay Helen Wheelock and ELizabeth L. Wheelock $100 each annually during their lives. In addition he left money to a number of other charitable organizations.¹

Leslie was the youngest son of Lewis Jackson and Mary I. He has a twin sister "Bess" He spent his entire working life working for the Illinois Central Railroad. He was a switchman, brakeman, and conductor. He worked for 46/47 years for the RR. He was a good person, had many friends, was a devoted father who attended the school and athletic events of his children. He liked to eat and to cook. He convert to Catholicism when he married Cecilia Mary Meyers. Apparently he was not practicing any religion prior to his marriage. He enjoyed being around people. He was a member of the Eagles Club in Sioux City Iowa. His health was good. He opened his home to troubled teens and he and his wife were foster parents for a number of young men and women.
