Chauncy D. Wheelock

Birth: 13 Aug 1832, Auburn, Geauga County, Ohio

Death: 25 Jan 1894, Allison, Decatur County, Kansas

Father: Daniel Wheelock
Mother: Betsey Belcher

Spouse: Frances M. _____
Marriage: before Nov 1859

  1. Carrie Wheelock, born about 1862, Butler County, Iowa
  2. George Wheelock, born about 1864, Butler County, Iowa
  3. Arthur M. Wheelock, born about 1869, Butler County, Iowa

Notes:

"C. D. Wheelock died at his home in Allison, Kan., on Jan. 25th, at the age of 62 years. Mr. Wheelock was a merchant in Clarksville for many years, and to the older settlers in Butler county will be well remembered."1

Chauncy and his family are recorded in the 1870 Census in Butler Center, Butler Township, Butler County, Iowa. The 1880 census lists them in Jennings Township, Dacatur County, Kansas. Therefore, the family must have moved from Iowa to Kansas during that period. The 1900 and 1910 censuses show Chauncy's widow Frances still living in Allison Township (created by the division of Jennings), Decatur County, Kansas. The family of their son George resided in an adjacent house, according to both the 1900 and 1910 censuses.2
