In 1900 Fannie B. Carter was born Aug 1899 in Texas, living in Emma, Crosby County, Texas with her parents, Kinch and Josephine Carter.

In 1910 she was 10, living in Lubbock, with her parents, Kinchen and Josephine Carter.

In 1920 Fannie was 19, born Texas, living in Lubbock with her husband, Howard, in the household of her parents, K., 44, and Josephine Carter, 43. Fannie's sister, Edith Carter, 15, and her brother, K. Jouner Carter, 7, were also in the household.

In 1930 she was living with her husband in Amarillo, Potter County, Texas, with their two children: Charlotte, 9, and Carter, 5, both born in Texas.

In 1940 she was again in Lubbock, living with her husband, and two children, Charlotte and Carter Wheelock.

By 1950, she was a saleswoman in Lubbock, divorced, living by herself.

She must have married Glen Wilkinson by 1 Feb 1954, because the Lubbock newspaper makes reference to [the former] Miss Edith Carter, her sister, Mrs. Glen Wilkinson, and her brother, K. Carter of Lubbock.¹

She is likely the Fannie B. Wilkinson, b. 17 Aug 1899, died 26 Dec 1988, buried in Lubbock Cemetery.²

In 1950, Clinton and Charlotte were living in Salinas, Monterey County, California, with their daughter, Karen Kirkpatrick, age 5. born in Texas.

Per obit, she was predeceased by her husband, Clinton W. Kirkpatrick, who died 17 Dec 1998. She was survived by her children, Karen Batres of Monterey, Mexico, and Kelly Kirkpatrick of Lubbock; her brother Carter Wheelock of Austin; five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.¹

Research Notes for Charlotte Wheelock:

There are two marriage records for Charlotte and Clinton. The first is in Swisher County, Texas, 1 Nov 1941.² This is a record of marriage, not a license. The other is in Glendale, Maricopa County, Arizona, 6 March 1942.³ Both appear to be valid marriage certificates, yet the family seems to use the 6 March 1942 date. For example, Charlotte's obit in the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal says they were married 6 March 1942.¹ Also, a newspaper announcement in the 18 Feb 1942 edition of the same paper states that the couple will be married in March 1942 in Phoenix, Arizona.⁴

Perhaps they were married twice, or perhaps the first record is somehow mistaken.

Research Notes for Fannie White:

A newspaper article, dated 19 June 1958, states that Mrs. Howard Wheelock is the mother of Arlin Gene White, who was to be married to Sandra Gail Bynum.¹

Arlin Gene White was found in the 1940 census living in Coryell, Texas, with his parents, Ardean White, 26, born Texas, and Fannie White, 24, born in Texas. They were living in the household of Ardean White's parents, Charles Porter and Addie White.

An image of the obituary of Ardean White is posted on Ancestry.com without attribution. The article indicates that Ardean White was born 3 Feb 1914 outside of Gatesville, Texas, that he married Miss Fannie Scott in Morton 10 April 1936, and they had one son, Arlean Jene White. He was survived by his widow; his son, age 2; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. P. White of Leon Junction; and two sisters, Miss Oveta White and Mrs. D. C. Todd, both of Brawley, California.²

In 1950, Willie A. Wheelock was the wife of Howard E. Wheelock, living together in Lubbock. Willie A. was 41, born in Texas. A divorce sought by Willie Aurora Wheelock against Howard E. Wheelock was granted, as announced in the 15 Aug 1950 edition of the Lubbock Morning Avalanche.¹

Reserach Notes for Willie A. Wheelock:

She is probably the William Aurora Walker who died 20 Feb 2003 at the age of 94. Per obit, published 22 Feb 2003, she was born Willie Aurora Barnett on 22 May 1908, in Seymour, Texas. She had a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Jane Amiot who died in 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Aurora Jo Noble Fisk of Texas.²

The birth certificate of Aurora Jo Noble identifies her father as Joe B. Noble and her mother as Willie Aurora Barnett. She was born 4 Oct 1928 in Austin, Travis County, Texas.³

The 23 Apr 1945 edition of the Longview News-Journal reports a marriage license between Willie Aurora Morrison and William R. King.⁴

She was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Austin.⁵

It is unclear whether this is the same Willie Aurora. A record of marriage between Willie Aurora (--?--) and Howard E. Wheelock has not been found. But "Willie Aurora" is an unusual name; and the fact that her birth date in the obit for Willie Aurora (Barnet) (Noble) Walker matches that of the Willie A. Wheelock in the 1950 census increases the likelihood that they are the same person.
