Notes:

Zenas was born in South Dayton, New York. At the age of eighteen he moved to Fredonia where he spent the balance of his life. He was superintendant of the first horse cars that ran between Dunkirk and Fredonia. After serving as superintendent of the car line, he was placed in charge of the Fenner medicine factory, and later was a partner in a nursery business as head of the firm of Wheelock, Schifferli and Clark. He retired from that business in 1908, after which he was active in community affairs, including village trustee, head of the village election board, a member of the board of the Methodist church, and secretary of the Forest Hill Cemetery association.1

He and Flora adopted Harry Ruddy of Ilion, New York.
