A newspaper article in the 9 Dec 1937 edition of Lubbock Morning Avalanche recalls the 46th anniversary of the first wedding in Lubbock, that between Frank Emerson Wheelock, founder of Lubbock, and Sylvia Belle Hunt. According to the article, seven children were born to the couple: Cyril E. Wheelock, Mrs. John W. Jarrott, E. B. Wheelock, W. I. Wheelock, and Mrs. Ted Tipps, all of Lubbock; H. E. Wheelock of Altus, Oklahoma; and Mrs. ELmer M. Conley of Big Spring.²
