His death record states that he was born 14 June 1877, which disagrees with his WWI and WWII draft cards, which say 14 June 1878, and with the 1900 census, which says June 1878. John F. Dillon was the informant on his death certificate, whereas Clifford himself was the informant on the draft cards and, presumably, the 1900 census.

In 1900 he was 21, born June 1878 in Michigan, a farmer, living in Courtland, Kent County, with his wife, Dora L., born June 1873 in Michigan, no children.

He divorced Dora in 1908. Per record, they had one child.

His WW I draft card, dated 12 Sep 1918, lists Gertrude Wheelock as his nearest relative. At the time, he was a cook at the Kalamazoo State Hospital.

In 1920 he was living in Kalamazoo Township, Kalamazoo County, age 41, married to Gertrude, age 25, with two sons: Harold T. Wheelock, age 1 month, and George F. Wheelock, age 6 years.

Gertrude sued for divorce, which was granted in 1925. Per divorce record, there were four children: George, 10, Kenneth, 7, Harold, 5, and Donald, 3.

In 1930, Gertrude was living in Cedar Springs, Kent County, age 35, divorced, born Michigan, with Donald Wheelock, 9, George Wheelock, 16, and Harold Wheelock, 10, all born in Michigan.

In 1930 he was living in Chicago with his wife, Frances Wheelock, 38, born Poland, step-son Edward Wheelock, 5, born Illinois, and Vera Wheelock, daughter, 1, born Illinois.

On 10 Nov 1931, Gertrude, 38, married Edward L. Woodard, 77, in Cedar Springs.

His WW II draft card, dated 27 Apr 1942, lists Charles Wheelock of Remus, Michigan as his nearest relative. He was living at 1922 Dickens St, Chicago, at the time.

This is probably the Cyrus Wheelock who enlisted as a Private 9 Nov 1861, Fredonia, NY, age 24, in Company K, New York 9th Cavalry Regiment, promoted to full 2nd Lieutenant on 27 Dec 1862, mustered out 19 Dec 1863.¹.

Cyrus appears in the 1870 Census in his parents household in Janesville, Wisconsin.

Lieutenant Cyrus Wheelock, born about 1838, NY, was admitted to a home for disabled volunteer soldiers in 1887, Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co, Wisconsin.²

He appears in the 1900 Census living in a boarding house in Wauwatosa, Milwaukee Co, Wisconsin, age 62, born NY, divorced, father born in Vermont, mother born in NY.

He appears in the 1910 Census living in Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co, Wisconsin, age 72, widowed, father born in Vermont.

He does not appear in the 1920 Census.

His headstone in Wood National Cemetery, Milwaukee, WI reads as follows: Lieut. Cyrus Wheelock/Co. K./9 N.Y. Cav. The death date of 5 Feb 1918 is listed at the FindAGrave memorial, but is not on his headstone (per photo there).
