William, his wife Mary, and their daughter Ellen moved to Villenova from Smithtown circa 1840. William's ancestry is not known, but he probably descends from Augustine Blydenburgh, a Hollander, who arrived in New Amsterdam, now New York City, circa 1640. He shows up in Villenova in the 1860 NY Census, occupation blacksmith, age 52, living with his wife Mary, age 48, daughter Ellen, age 22; Moses, age 17; Josephine, age 12; and Rhomine, age 9; all born in NY.

Stephen Wheelock, age 35, is enumerated in the 1850 Federal Census, living in Eden, VT, with Submit Wheelock, age 45, and Calista Wheelock, age 7. The family is living in the household next to Levi and Cordelia Wheelock. Submit Wheelock, daughter of ____ Jacobs, born in Waterford, died 10 Dec 1883 (1893?), age 84 years, recorded in Eden, VT, vital records. According to LDS Records, Submit Jacobs was the daughter of Amaziah Jacobs and Submit, born 23 Jun 1802, Waterford, Caledonia Co, VT; and was the sister of Salome Jacobs, who married Walter Wheelock. Stephen's Eden death record gives age 69 at death (sic), and identifies his mother as Betsey Phelps.
