The California Vital Records list his mother's maiden name as Davis.
"Samuel Davis, of Oxford, MA, and Joseph Davis, of Dudley, MA, and Their Descendants", by George L. Davis, published by the author, North Andover, MA 1884, has the following to say about Arthur N. Wheelock:
"Arthur N. Wheelock was educated at the Vermont University, at Burlington; for a time principle of the Barre (Vt.) Academy, and later teacher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, at Boston."
"The Wheelock Family of Calais, VT", by Marcus W. Waite, 1940, adds the following:
"Instructor, 1882-3, MIT, Boston. Lived at Presque Isle, ME, 1888-9; at Salt Lake City, Utah, 1889-1890; at Riverside, CA, from 1890 to date [1940]. In 1898 he became head of the History Dept., Riverside High School, and from 1902 to 1928 was Supt. of Schools."
