Mary was from the town of Shrewsbury. "The History of the Town of Shrewsbury", by Ward, indicates that Thomas Prentice Wheelock married Elizabeth Allen, but this was probably a mistake. The Grafton VRs indicate marriage intention between Mary A. Allen and Thomas P. Wheelock - not Elizabeth.

An 1834 map of Spencer shows E. Wheelock living on Borkum Rd., near Charlton. This may be the same E. Wheelock. Borkum Rd. changes to Wheelock Rd in Charlton, which is where the early Wheelock Charlton land holdings were.
The 1850 Federal Census shows Ephraim Wheelock, age 59, farmer, and Charlotte Wheelock, age 55, living in Spencer, MA. In the same household is Aaron B. Wheelock, age 23. No other children are shown.
