Adams was no doubt named for his grandmothers side of the family, closely related to President John Adams.
Adams father died when he was about 13 years of age, bequething to him "eighty pounds lawful money", "to be paid ... at the time when he shall arive at the age of twenty one years". [1]
He served for 6 months in the Continental Army in 1780, at the age of 17. He is listed as being 5' 8" tall, and of light complexion. [2]
The vital records for Charlton indicate that Adams died of "Palsy" at the age of 84.

Henry J. Clarke in "Captain Ralph Wheelock of Sturbridge, His Ancestors, and Some of His Descendants", 1903 reports that Calvin died in Hardwick, leaving behind two children "now deceased", Albert and Martha. He mentions nothing of Henry E. Wheelock, who appears in the Southbridge Vital Records. The Connecticut marriage record of Calvin C. Wheelock and Eveline Trowbridge reports that Calvin was from Southbridge, MA. Calvin is buried in Glen Valley Cemetery, in Barre, MA, with his wife, Eveline (spelled Everline), Henry C. Wheelock, who died 19 Sep 1849, age 1 yr, Julia A, died in 1851, age 1 yr, Martha J. Wheelock (probably his daughter) who married George A. Williams, and died in 1900, Hattie, and Ellen Wheelock, both of whom died young.
