Winslow and Mary lived for a time in Calais, VT, before moving to Shipton, Richmond Co, Quebec sometime between 1805 and 1807. Winslow Pope apprenticed as a shipwright in Providence, RI, and later practiced the trade at Trois Rivieres, Quebec. (Src: Records of Mary Steinhoff, a descendant of Winslow and Mary through their son, Leonard, May 2007.) Winslow Pope's death date is recorded on his headstone in Castlebar Cemetery, Shipton, 17 Feb 1847, age 75y 7m, as transcribed at www.interment.com, in disagreement with his 1770 birth date.
