Samuel probably served in the Revolutionary War. He was a private in Captain Staples Chamberlain's Company of Militia (from Holliston) who marched in response the the Lexington Alarm of 19 April 1775.
The children of Samuel and Dinah are taken from the "Leland Genealogy" as reported by Carlyle Wheelock and Winifred Gonseth in "Wheelock Genealogy". The birth dates are not consistent with the marriage date.
The death of an unnamed child of Samuel, Jr. is recorded in Tyringham, 24 Dec 1781 (Church Record).
