William S. Tilden, "The History of Medfield, Massachusetts, 1650-1886", published 1886, writes of Samuel as follows: "Samuel married at Rehoboth in 1678 Sarah Kendrick. He inherited the original Wheelock estate on the cornor of North Street. He died in 1698, and his widow married in 1703 Josiah Rockwood. The place passed into the possession of his brother Eleazar."
Samuel's birth date is recorded in the Dedham Vital Records as: "22 of 7th Month 1642".
