The birth of Wilson Wheelock, son of Martin and Rachel, is recorded in the Vermont Vital Records, 1825. However, no further record of Wilson is to be found in the VRs or elsewhere. On the other hand, the death of a Joseph W. Wheelock, born 1825 in Eden, son of Martin and Rachel, is recorded in Berlin, VT. Joseph W. Wheelock had grandchildren with middle name Wilson. It is presumed that his middle name was Wilson, and that he is identical with the Wilson Wheelock whose birth is recorded in Eden in 1825.
Winslow Wheelock, b. 24 Jan 1825, must have been a twin, if the reasoning is correct. Winslow appears later in the vital records, he administered his fathers estate in 1841, and his death is recorded in Morristown, VT. He was certainly a different person than Joseph W. Wheelock.
Joseph W. Wheelock must have been a town clerk in Berlin, as his signature appears on many of the vital records there in the 1870s. He was an editor per his Berlin death record. According to WTW, he had a one-half interest in the "Green Mountain Freeman" in 1869, and owned all of it in 1873. His son, Herbert R. Wheelock, later published the paper, which was located in Montpelier, VT. (Src: "The Wheelock Family in America, 1637-1969", by Walter T. Wheelock, 1969.)
