She early developed musical talent of a high order and for four years after leaving school taught that branch successfully in the Putnam and Willimantic schools. This is probably the L. Wheelock enumerated in the 1860 Census in Randolph, Montgomery Co, OH, age 26, born in Ohio (about 1834), living with Eliza Jane (wife), age 25, daughter Francis, age 5, son Howard(?) age 3, and son James, age 2. Lyman Wheelock does not appear in the 1870 Census. His wife, Eliza Jane, died in 1871, and is buried in the Wheelock Cemetery, in West Milton, Ohio. Her tombstone reads: "Eliza J., wife of Lyman Wheelock, died Mar ??, 1871, aged ???" Lyman Wheelock is enumerated in the 1880 Census, living in Randolph, Montgomery Co, OH, age 47, with Manda Wheelock, age 39, born in PA, and children Celia Wheelock, age 24, Cora Wheelock, age 20, Willie Wheelock, age 16, Eunice Wheelock, age 13, and Carrey Wheelock, age 6. He is enumerated in the 1900 Census, living again in Randolph, age 68, with wife Amanda, age 52, and son Carrie E., age 26. "The Cassell Family" webpage, maintained by Nancy Piper, indicates, without listing sources, that Sarah Amanda Cassel, b. 8 Nov 1847 in East Donegal Township, Lancaster Co, Pennsylvania, daughter of Jacob Cassel and Mary Engel, married Lyman Wheelock in 1871. Lyman was born about 1833 in Ohio. Lyman and Sarah Amanda had a son, Carey Wheelock, born 1874 in Ohio.
