Benjamin is referred to as "Lieutenant" in his marriage record to Joanna Taft.

The LDS Ancestral File shows a marriage between Mary Thayer and Benjamin Wheelock, 23 May 1720. Mary, it states, was born 22 Dec 1704, the daughter of Isaac and Marcy Thayer. There is no such record in Mendon, but there is a marriage record for Mary Thayer and Benjamin White on the same date. The LDS record is probably a mistaken transcription of this.

"Wheelock Genealogy", by Carlyle Wheelock and Winifred Gonseth, 1955, says the following about Benjamin Wheelock's will: "The will of Benjamin Wheelock, Gentlemen, is dated Mendon, MA, Mar. 23, in the 16th year of the reign of King George III, 1776, and leaves son Jesse the homestead; mentions dau. Huldah Penniman; Children of Benjamin, deceased: Benjamin, Joseph, Amariah, Marvel, Sarah Kent, Hannah, Louise, Luletta, Unice; Children of son Jonathan: Eleazar, Lyman, Alpheus, Willard, Dolle, Deborah."
