Per death record: Martha A. Wheelock committed suicide by hanging; she died at the age of 68 years, 9 months, 6 days, the daughter of Nathaniel Brigham.
Ruth was the daughter of Major General Salem Towne, a very prominent man in Massachusetts and Charlton. He was among the first to respond to the battle of Lexington, and was a member of the Constitutional Convention 1780.
