The Heath Vital Records (MA) record the birth of John as follows: John Wheelock, husband Dorothy, born 23 Dec 1756 in Leominster. There is record of marriage between John Wheelock, Jr. to Dolly Wilder, 14 Oct 1779, in the Lancaster Vital Records (pg 126). This may be John Wheelock and Dorothy Wilder.
There are several men from Lancaster with the name John Wheelock who fought in the Revolutionary War. This may be one of them. A John Wheelock, of Ontario County, NY, filed for a pension (for service in the Revolutionary War, on the Massachusetts line) in 1820, age 66. The dates are slightly off, but this may be the same John.
The Massachusetts 1790 Census shows John Wheelock, Jr., living in Heath, MA. In the household is 1 adult male (John, Jr.), 1 male under age 16, and 8 females (including heads of families). The Heath Vital Records account for all of these children, except the male under age 16.
There are records of land purchases in Western New York in the 1804-1824 time frame by Curtis, John, and Otis Wheelock. These are, no doubt, members of this family. (Source: Western New York Land Transactions, 1804-1824, Extracted from the Archives of the Holland Land Company, Karen E. Livsey, Indexed 1991, ISBN 0-8063-1294-7)
John Wheelock moved to Vienna, Oneida Co, NY, near the eastern shores of Oneida Lake in 1813. His sons, Curtis and Otis followed one year later. From "Our County and It's People, A Descriptive work on Oneida County, NY", edited by Daniel E. Wager, The Boston History Company, 1896, pg 589:
"John Wheelock, who served seven years in the Revolutionary war, father of Otis Wheelock, settled in 1813 near Fish Creek, NY, where his son subsequently lived, the latter came into the town in 1814 with his brother Curtis. At the time of his arrival the settlers were few and nearly the whole town was covered with a heavy growth of hemlock."
"In 1815-16 Otis Wheelock taught a school in a log house that stood near his late residence."
John's son Alonzo was known to have been a Baptist pastor in Western New York. Alonzo's death notice says that he was born in Fish-Creek-Flats, Oneida Co, NY, Feb 7, 1804. "was left an orphan at 8 in care of an elder sister". Although the Heath, MA, Vital Records clearly indicate that Alonzo's mother died when he was fourteen, it is possible that he became an "orphan" when his father moved to Fish Creek, NY, in 1813. He would have been about 9 at the time. (Source: "Death Notices 1819-1899 reported in the Fredonia Censor and a few other sources", compiled by Lois Barris, published 1992 by the Chautauqua County Genealogical Society) This death notice is probably in error about his birth place; but the birth date (which matches the Heath, MA record), and the location clearly tie him to this family.
Records titled "Members of the Church of Christ of Williamstown, Massachusetts" (available online at NEHGS) identify the married names of many of the daughters in this family (Sarah, Betsey, Emily, Dorothy).

Lemuel Wheelock was a prominent and influential citizen of Warwick during the period between 1820 and his death in 1842. According to the "History of Warwick" the town "revolved" around him.
He married Rhoda Chamberlain, the daughter of a wealthy man in Winchester. In 1820 he bought the store owned by Stephen Ball at the junction of Hastings Pond Rd and the Northfield Turnpike. Lemuel Wheelock had a penchant for making money, and aquired a great deal of property by making secured loans to the citizens of the town, and foreclosing. He was an astute business man, and invested his money in many profitable enterprises. He was described by many as pompous, vain, and uncharitable.
He was Lieutenant Colonel of the Militia Regiment, and served as a selectman from 1824 to 1830. On several occasions he was a representative to the legislature.
(Source: "Warwick, MA, Biography of a Town, 1763-1963", by Charles A. Morse, published by Dresser, Chapman & Grimes, Cambridge, MA, 1963.)
His headstone in the Warwick Cemetery reads as follows: "Lemuel Wheelock died Feb. 26, 1842, Aged 50 years." Buried next to him is his wife, Rhoda C. Wheelock, and two children, Maria Antoinette Wheelock and Rhoda Chamberlin Wheelock.

A Samuel Wheelock, age 29?, born NY, is enumerated in the 1850 Census, living in North Dansville, Livingston Co, NY, with Clara, age 20, born Ohio, and Laura, age 2, born NY. This may be the same Laura that is living with Samuel's parents in Michigan in 1860 and 1870. A Samuel Wheelock, born June 1821 in NY, is enumerated in the 1900 Census living in San Francisco, not far from where his presumed brother, John Wheelock, was residing.
