According to the "History of the County of Annapolis", by Calnek and Savary, 1897, Jesse lived in Maine, and had six children.
The LDS International Genealogical Index records that Jesse and Abigail "Leavitt" had a child (Jesse, Jr.) in Northborough, MA 15 Oct 1784 (film number 1903790). This is certainly plausible, given that Jesse's parents lived in neighboring Shrewsbury. The LDS Ancestral File (v4.19, July 2000, AFN:PHXF-H1) shows that Jesse, Jr. died at "Hancock Plt, Aroostook, Maine".
Jesse appears in the 1790 Massachusetts Census, living in Northbourgh, MA. In 1786 he deeded lands to Stephen Ball and Nathan Green, both of whom lived on Ball Hill in Northborough, MA, (see Worcester County Registry of Deeds, Book 99, pgs 181, 183). Jesse also deeded lands to Henry Gaschet in the same year (Book 101, pg 382). [Note 1]
The Northborough Vital Records show two children, Jesse and Martha born to Jesse Wheelock and ____ in this time frame.
Jesse does not show up in Northborough in the 1800 Massachusets Census. However, a Jesse appears in Union Township, Lincoln County, Maine in the 1800 Maine Census. In the 1810 Census a Jesse Wheelock and Phinehas Wheelock appear adjacent to each other, living in Hope Township, Lincoln County. The household of Jesse has a male, age 16-26, a male >45, and a female >45. The household of Phinehas has a male <10, a male 26-45, and a female 16-26.
Notes
[1] Since he deeded land to Henry Gaschet (probably Eliab Wheelock's father in-law), it was presumed that Jesse was the son of Eliab Wheelock and Marry Gaschet, who lived in Northborough at the time. However, a son of Eliab would have been too young to engage in land transactions in 1786.
