"New England Families, Genealogical and Memorial", Cutter, Lewis Historical Publishing Company, 1914, Pg. 1277 has the following to say about Dexter:
"Dexter was educated in the public schools of his native town, and learned the trade of stone cutter. He followed his trade at Northfield, MA, and vicinity. He had previously worked in a piano factory at Erving, and in a chair factory at Gardner. In politics he was a Republican."
