Andrew left home at the age of 12, moved to Yipsilanti, MI, and worked in a livery. He was the 8th child of Reu and Rosanna. Family history has it that Andrew Jackson abandoned his first wife and child and went to Whiteside County, Illinois, where he maried Briget Evans. (Source: Marian Chamberlain, spouse of descendant of Andrew Jackson Wheelock).
Andrew Wheelock donated land for creation of the "Wheelock School" in Erie, IL. The first schoolhouse on this land was built in 1840. (Src: "Presents History of Wheelock School at Community Meeting", article published in the Sterling Daily Gazette, 15 Sep 1941, Sterling, IL.)
The "History of Whiteside County, Illinois", by W. M. Davis, 1908, reports the birth date as 1 June 1827, Genesee County, NY.

Moses Wheelock turned out at the Lexington Alarm, and was commissioned Captian in 1775. He was a major under Colonel Jonathan Smith in 1776. On 16 June 1777 he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel of the Worcester County Regiment that reinforced Gen. Gates.
He was active in the affairs of his hometown, Westborough, serving as a selectmen in 1771, and as town clerk in 1771, 1772, 1778-1782, and 1786-1795.
(Source: DAR files, and "History of Westborough", by H. DeForest, 1891)
There is an 1860 Charlestown, MA death record (MA 139:68) for Abial Wheelock, age 78, single, born in Westborough, daughter of Joseph and Lydia. Her birth would have been around 1782. Though speculation, these facts suggest that the death record might have been mistaken about her father's name, and that she might have been a child of Moses and Lydia.
