The evidence for Abner being the son of Abner and Polly is as follows: (1) the headstone is near that of Abner and Polly, and their other children; (2) no other child is recorded in the VRs born to Abner and Polly in 1822; and (3) Abner bears the same name as his father.

Abner was a cigar manufacturer in Worcester, MA. He was the first to make cigars and open a cigar store there; was popularly known as "Major". He died unmarried.
