Sylvester Wheelock is enumerated in the 1850 Census living in Lancaster, Erie Co, NY, age 26. Living in the same household is Irene Wheelock, his wife, age 23, Albert Wetherwax, age 9, Cyrenus Cunningham, age 20, and Martha Wheelock, age 13. Martha is presumed to be the daughter of Jotham Wheelock and Hannah Warner. This ties Sylvester to Jotham and Hannah.

Note that Hannah Wheelock is enumerated in the 1850 Census, living not far from Sylvester. Martha is not enumerated in Hannah's household, lending support to the theory that Hannah's daughter Martha is the same Martha living in Sylvester's household. Martha evenutally marries Alfred Cunningham; the fact that a Cunningham is living in the same household as Martha lends further support to the theory.

Sylvester is enumerated in the 1860 Census living in West Seneca, Erie Co, NY, age 36, with children Emma J, age 9, Kate, age 8, Sylvester, age 7, Harriet, age 4. Also in the household is Albert Weatherway, age 19, and Caroline Lee, age 18.

He is enumerated in the 1870 Census living in Chicago, with wife Elizabeth, age 35, and children Emma, age 18, Sylvester, age 17, Katy, age 15, Hattie, age 14, Ida, age 9, and Ella, age 4.

He is enumerated in the 1880 Census, living with his wife, Elizabeth, and their children Mattie Wheelock, age 9, and Eddie Wheelock, age 4.
