Sarah became a member of the Williamstown Congregational Church in 1805. Her name is listed as "Sarah Wheelock Perry", though the surname Perry was likely added after 1805, possibly in 1832 when the list was created.¹

Her probate records identify living heirs Leonard G. Perry, Nelson W. Perry, Roxy Ann Rich, Caroline Rich, Mary E. Rich, George Rich, and John Rich. All except Mary E. Rich are named heirs of Mary Grandey in the 1839 probate notice for her estate, perhaps an oversight. Caroline Rich is named with her husband "William Frost and Caroline Frost" of Addison County, Vermont.²

Everett Rich was named the legal representative of Sarah Ann Rich, deceased, also an heir to the estate. Sarah Ann died after her mother, but before the division of her mother's estate.

Sarah's first husband was probably Israel B. Perry, who died 1811 in Charlotte, Chittenden Co, VT. The evidence is:

1) Israel B. Perry is the only man with that surname listed in the 1810 U.S. census in Charlotte, where Sarah was presumed to be living.

2) Israel B. Perry left probate records that identify his widow as "Sally Perry."³

3) Leonard G. Perry, heir of Sarah Rich, lived in Jacksonburg, Michigan. His biography in the History of Jackson County states that he was born 20 July 1809 in Charlotte, Vermont, that his father died in 1811, and that his mother was born 18 Dec 1784 in Massachusetts (4 days off from the Heath record).⁴

To confuse matters, the Vermont state death record for Israel B. Perry incorrectly identifies his date of death as 18 Feb 1801 instead of 18 Feb 1811, and identifies his spouse as Jerusha. The record is presumed to be wrong on both counts. His first wife was Jerusha, but she died in 1806.
