Jonathan's record of marriage to Lavina identifies his parents as Henry and Eleanor.

Jonathan and Lavina were enumerated in the 1860 Census living in Worcester, MA. Matilda Gordon, age 19, born in RI was listed in the same household.

He filed for divorce from Lavina on grounds of adultery, per notice in the 2 May 1862 edition of the Lamoille Newsdealer.¹

He was a resident of Hyde Park when he married Amanda Bastin on 14 Mar 1863.²

During the Civil War he enlisted in Company E, 3rd Infantry Vermont Volunteers, and was mustered into service on 20 Aug 1863. Ten months later, in June 1864, he was killed in the battle of Cold Harbor, Virginia.³

He is probably the Jonathan F. Wheelock of Hyde Park whose probate records are on file in Lamoille County, Vermont. Administrators bond was posted 16 July 1864; Franklin M. Allen appointed administrator.⁴
