Notes:

Gillman married Sarah Jane Crook in 1881. Together, they had one child, Warner David Wheeler. Gilman was mentioned in the probate records of his father, dated 26 Jan 1880, but was not mentioned in those of his mother, dated 19 Mar 1890.¹

He died intestate on or around 12 Mar 1883. His widow, Sarah J. Wheeler, was still a minor at that time, with one child - Warner D. Wheeler. By 6 Feb 1886, Sarah signed her name as Sarah J. Worden, nee Wheeler, reflecting her marriage to Ebenezer Worden.²

No apparent children.

William is enumerated in the 1850 U.S. census, age 14, living with his father in Amherst. He was not living in his father's household in 1855.

In 1858 he married Jennie A. Holmes in Northhampton. His occupation is given as blacksmith. He and his wife Jeanette had three children recorded in Northampton, from about 1859 to 1866.

In 1863, William A. Wheelock, of Chicopee, age 28, born Amherst, machinist, married, registered for the civil war draft. He had previously served in the 62nd NY regiment.¹

The administration petition for his father's probate, dated 13 May 1862, identifies Wm. A. Wheelock as a next of kin, "of Northampton in this county [Hampshire] now in the army." Wm. A. Wheelock, and his siblings Geo. V. Wheelock, and Elizabeth R. Phillips signed the probate documents on 2 Feb 1864.²

In 1865, his wife Jennie Wheelock, age 27, is living in Northampton with her daughter, Kate, age 5, in the household of Franklin Holmes, probably a brother or close relative. She is listed as married, but William is not enumerated in the household.

In Apr 1876, Jeanette A. Wheelock was granted a divorce from William A. Wheelock for cause of desertion.³

His whereabouts after he signed his father's probate documents on 2 Feb 1864 is unknown.
