His 1758 will, Worcester case 33961, names his wife, Rachel Chapin Jones, executor, and names his sons Seth, Solomon, and Nathaniel, and his daughters Sarah and Rachel.

The Thayer Memorial, by Bezaleel Thayer, incorrectly identifies the Elizabeth Thayer who married William White as the sixth daughter of Jonathan Thayer and Elizabeth French (p. 223). The evidence against this is found in the will of Thomas Thayer, husband of Mary, written 25 Feb 1734/35, who identifies his daughter, Elizabeth White, as a legatee. The probate records of Thomas Thayer also identify Seth Chapin and Benjamin Wheelock (among others) to set off a third portion of the estate to the widow.¹
