Joseph Parks

Birth: 9 Jan 1690/91, Concord, Middlesex Co, MA

Father: Richard Parks
Mother: Elizabeth Billings

Spouse: Abigail (--?--)
Marriage: estimated 1718

Notes:

Joseph and Abigail had the following children, all recorded in Concord: Benjamin, b. 13 Jan 1718/19, Stephen, b. 30 Apr 1721, Joseph, b. 2 Apr 1725, David, b. 10 Jan 1724/5, Love, b. 4 May 1726, Sarah, b. 20 July 1730, Elizabeth, b. 4 July 1732, Benjamin, b. 20 Jan 1733/4, and Grace, b. 26 Feb 1735/6.

The last recorded sale of property by Joseph and Abigail was on 6 March 1737, when they sold property in Concord to Timothy Billings.1 In later years, starting in 1758, Joseph and Mary sold property in Concord. The latest of these sales was in 1784, way too late to be the Joseph born in 1690/91. These might be sales by his son Joseph, Jr.2 And Joseph, Jr. might be the Joseph "of Concord" that married Mary Barron, 30 Mar 1754 in Boston.3 But Joseph, Jr. (per genealogies) supposedly filed intention to marry Sarah Swan 3 March 1753 in Cambridge. This intention was "forbidden by Joseph Garfield." On 17 Apr 1755, Joseph, Jr. of Concord married Lydia Garfield. It therefore remains unclear who the Joseph was who married Mary Barron.

Sarah Parks

Birth: 6 May 1696, Concord, Middlesex Co, MA

Father: Richard Parks
Mother: Elizabeth Billings

Spouse: John Post
Marriage: 12 Dec 1723, Canterbury, Windham County, CT

Notes:

Three children of a John and Sarah Post are recorded in Killingly, WIndham County, Connecticut: Sarah, b. 29 May 1726, Easter, b. 26 Mar 1728, and Elizabeth, b. 9 May 1730.1

This family may have moved to Hampshire County, Massachusetts, circa 1731, when John Post, of Brimfield, was licensed to run an inn there. He obtained licenses in each year from 1731 to 1734.2

John Post had various other hearings before the court of common pleas, dated 1734, 1740, and 1748.3

In 1740, he was of Brimfield, alias "the Elbows", was a husbandman, and was involved in a land dispute regarding a tract of land in "the Elbows" lying near the Ware River.4 Prior to 1742, when the Ware River Precinct came into existence, the territory of Ware was part of a section of Hampshire County called "The Elbows."5

In 1742, John Post became the first clerk of Ware.6

On 20 March 1745, Sarah Post, wife of John, died in Ware.7

On 17 Feb 1794, Esther (also spelled Easter in the same document) Pattiel (Parttriel, Palliel, perhaps Battiel) widow of Joseph Pattiel, late of Norwich, now residing in Noriwch, Windsor County, Vermont, an heir of Zaccheus Parks, quitclaimed to Samuel Parks her interest in the estate of Zaccheus.8

On 19 Dec 1763, an Esther Post married Adam Willcox in Killingworth, Middlesex County, Connecticut.9 But this is likely a different Esther. Family trees on Ancestry.com state that this Esther was the daughter of Noathan and Hannah (Barnes) Post, of Old Saybrook, Middlesex County, Connecticut.
