In 1915 she was 9, living in Sherburne, daughter of Florence Hendricks, age 51. Her brother Bernard, age 16, was in the household, as were her grandparents, George L Hendricks and his wife, Henrietta.

According to her 1924 record of marriage to Walter Hunt, she was the daughter of Albert Hendricks and Florence Wheelock.

In 1925, Dorothy Hunt, age 19, roomer, was living in a boarding house in Buffalo, Ward 25, Erie County, New York, with Walter Hunt, age 21, roomer, amongst others.

Dorothy was not found in the 1930 census, but was not likely married to John P. Niemeyer yet, as he was listed in the 1930 census as single, living with his parents in Dillsboro, Indiana.

In 1940 Dorothy Niemeyer, and her husband John Niemeyer, were living in the household of Dorothy's mother, Florence Hendricks in Sherburne, Chenango County, New York. Dorothy's brother, Ernest Wheelock, age 74, was also in the household, as was George W. Niemeyer, age 2, the son of Dorothy and John.

In 1950, Dorothy Niemeyer, her husband John, their son George, and her mother-in-law, Jennie N. Niemeyer, were living on State Route 62 in Dillsboro. They had been married for 15 years, suggesting a marriage date around 1935.

Per death certificate, Dorothy Niemeyer, was born 25 Juy 1905, in Sherburne, New York, daughter of Florence Hendricks, father unknown. She was married to John P. Niemeyer, and her mailing address was RR#1 Lake Dilldear. She died in Lawrenceburg, Dearborn County, Indiana, and was a resident of Dillsboro at the time.¹

Her obituary states that she was survived by her husband, John P. Niemeyer, and one son, George W. Niemeyer of Aurora.²

In 1930, John Niemeyer was a resident of Dillsboro, Indiana, age 27, born Indiana, truck driver by occupation, living with his parents, George Niemeyer, 68, and Jennie Niemeyer, 64.

In 1950 he was age 47, living in Dillsboro, Dearborn, Indiana, with his wife, Dorothy, 44, son George W. Niemeyer, age 12, and his mother, Jennie N. Niemeyer. age 84.

Per obituary in the 30 Jan 1997 edition of The Dearborn County Register, he was survived by one son: George W. Niemeyer of Aurora; two grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.¹

Research Notes:

In 1982, Michael L. Niemeyer, son of Mary J. Jewett, R.R. 1, Dilssboro, completed Air Force Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.²

Marsha Smart and Airman Michael L. Niemeyer were married Saturday, Oct. 26, 1985, in Little Rock, Arkansas.³

The 27 Sept 1990 edition of The Dearborn County Register reports that Staff Sgt. Michael L. Niemeyer, son of George W. Niemeyer of Aurora, and Mary J. Barth, of Dillsboro, was decorated with the second award of the Air Force Commendation Medal at the Pentagon in Washington.⁴

Mary Jane Niemeyer was granted a divorce from George W. Niemeyer, in court news published 30 June 1966, Aurora, Indiana.¹

Per cemetery and funeral home records, George William Niemeyer was the son of John and Dorothy Niemeyer, spouse of Jo Ann Niemeyer, father of John Raymond Niemeyer and Michael Lee Niemeyer.²

His obituary is published on Legacy.com, and reads as follows:³

"George William Niemeyer, 85, of Stuart, FL, formerly of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023. He was born November 2, 1937, in Utica, NY, son of the late John Niemeyer and Dorothy (Wheelock) Niemeyer. George was a very patriotic man. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and National Guard, serving at Fort Knox. He served as Past Commander of both the Dillsboro and Aurora American Legions. He was a member of the VFW, Korean War Veterans and the 40 and 8. He worked as a supervisor for Monsanto, retiring after over 34 years of service. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and he will be greatly missed. George is survived by his sons, John Raymond (Jodie) Niemeyer of Palm City, FL, Michael Lee Niemeyer of Allen Park, MI; grandchildren, Megan, Noah, and Jordan Niemeyer; two step-children BJ Bunnell Wright of Macon, North Carolina and Paul (Janet) Bunnell of Mandeville, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Niemeyer; and his loving wife, JoAnn Niemeyer."

Per an article about George in the 22 Sep 2016 edition of The Dearborn County Register, his grandchildren Jordan, Noah, and Megan, graduated from Florida State University.⁴
