Notes:

In 1919 Charles Grattan Ames, age 21, was gassed while serving overseas in World War I. Mortally wounded, he was sent back to the States, and soon died in Batavia. He was survived by his uncle, Frank Grimes, an aunt, Mrs. Ellan M. Peckham [sister of Lamotte Ames], and two other uncles, James and Joseph Grimes of Batavia. His parents were deceased.¹
