The LDS IGI shows a David Wheelock who lived in Readfield, Kennebec Co, ME. This may be the same David Wheelock. The evidence, mostly onomastic, is as follows:
1) David Wheelock of Readfield, ME, was born about 1782, in MA (per 1850 Federal Census). This fits well with the pattern of births for Elizabeth (Thompson) Wheelock, David's mother.
2) David married Sukey Packard in ME, 14 Jan 1813. Their first child was Albert Thompson Wheelock, b. 10 Dec 1812; the middle name Thompson probably from Elizabeth (Thompson) Wheelock, David's mother. The name Albert Thompson Wheelock runs in the family. David had a nephew named Albert Thompson Wheelock who was born in Charlton.
3) Two other children inherited names from David's parents: Elizabeth Wheelock and Frederick Benjamin Wheelock.

The following is excerpted from "Biographical Review, Biographical Sketches of Leading Citizens of Livingston and Wyoming Counties, New York", Boston, Biographical Review Publishing Company, 1895.
Harry served in the War of 1812, but afterward worked on a homestead till 1819, when he was twenty seven years old. He then came to Livingston County, and purchased a tract of land in Leicester, whereon a log house was the only improvement. After this purchase he returned to Ontario County, and married Judith Gillett. The young couple commenced life in the log cabin; and within its lowly walls was born Austin Wheelock, the special subject of this sketch. In due time a frame house took the place of the more primitive residence; and here Mr. Harry Wheelock remained until his death, which occurred on June 13, 1873, when he had passed from his fourscoure years, and had seen the county develop from wilderness to wealth.
