Abigail Chapin is half sister to Rachel Chapin the wife of Paul's brother, David Wheelock. She was also half cousin to the second president of the United States, John Adams. She and John had the same grandfather, Joseph Adams, Jr. Abigail lived long enough to see her cousin reach the presidency in 1797.
