"C. D. Wheelock died at his home in Allison, Kan., on Jan. 25th, at the age of 62 years. Mr. Wheelock was a merchant in Clarksville for many years, and to the older settlers in Butler county will be well remembered." (Source: The Clarksville Star, Clarksville, Iowa, 15 Feb 1894.)
Chauncy and his family are recorded in the 1870 Census in Butler Center, Butler Township, Butler County, Iowa. The 1880 census lists them in Jennings Township, Dacatur County, Kansas. Therefore, the family must have moved from Iowa to Kansas during that period. The 1900 and 1910 censuses show Chauncy's widow Frances still living in Allison Township (created by the division of Jennings), Decatur County, Kansas. The family of their son George resided in an adjacent house, according to both the 1900 and 1910 censuses. (Source: Notes of Christine Galbraith, 8 Sep 2001.)
