Josephus' children Joseph, Jay, and Jerome moved to Cache, Monroe Co, AR sometime before 1870, after which they all appear in the census there.

Joseph, age 28, born Alabama, is enumerated there with his wife, Louisa J. (alias Jane), age 19. No children in the household.

A Joseph Wilock enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1862, Arkansas Thirty-fifth Infantry. He was age 25, in disagreement with this Joseph's birth date. But given that his brothers Jay and Jerome both served for Arkansas, it is likely that he also served.

He appears there in 1870, grocer, with his wife Louisa, and children Edmund, age 9, and Jay, age 6. Also in the household: John Dale, age 60, Susand Dixon, age 15, domestic servant, John Thompson, age 21, grocery clerk.

Joseph died in 1876. His wife, L. J. Wheelock, widow, appears in the 1880 census, in Clarendon, Monroe Co, AR. Also in the household are J. E. number 1, age 19 (this must be Edmund in the 1870 census), J. E. number 2, age 15 (Jay in the 1870 census), Katie, age 9, and Joe Ellen, age 3.

Thomas Prentice Wheelock became a full partner of Allen & Wheelock when Charles Thurber retired from the business in 1856. He remained there until his death in 1864.
