During the War of 1812 he enlisted as a private in the 9th U.S. Infantry, under Capt. Samuel S. Allen on 3 Jan 1814. Per enlistement record, he was 30, a farmer, born in Woodbury, Connecticut. He died in service 13 Dec 1814.¹

For his service, his daughter, Esther, received a pension of two hundred forty dollars over five years, starting 14 Mar 1820.²

Research Notes:

His mother's application for a pension based on his father's service in the Revolutionary War contains a family register with births and deaths of members of the Miner family. It includes a birth date for Walker Miner, and a death date that differs by one year from the date in Walker Miner's War of 1812 enlistment records. Specifically, the family register says he died 13 Dec 1813, vs. 13 Dec 1814 in the pension records. Since his date of enlistment is also in the enlistment record, namely 3 Jan 1814, it seems likely that the 13 Dec 1814 death date is correct.³
