Research Notes for Heman Baldwin:

On 12 March 1792, Heman Baldwin of Whitestown purchased from Jedediah Sanger of Whitestown, for 80 pounds, part of lot 94 on the Feemason's patent, consisting of 160 acres with "houses outhouses barns stables buildings yards gardens orchard lands tenement meadows pastures feedings[?] woods underwoods trees timer fences imporvements ways waters water courses mines minerals quarries huntings hawkings fowlings fishings," etc. The deed was signed by Jedediah Sanger in the presences of Winston Day and Abel Thompson.¹

On 8 October 1794, Heman Baldwin and his wife Irene, both of Whitestown, Herkimer County, New York, for 40 pounds, sold to Israel Baldwin of Branford, New Haven County, Connecticut, a part of Lot No. Ninety four on the Freemason's patent, consisting of 60 acres, signed by Heman and Irene Baldwin, in the presence of Jedediah Sanger and William Babbit.²

In 1799, 1801, and 1803 Heman was taxed on his property in Whitestown, Oneida County, New York.³

In 1800 he was a resident of Paris, Oneida County, New York, aged 26 to 45, living with three boys age 10 or under, a woman age 25 to 45, and one girl age 10 or under.⁴
