David Dagged was a private in Capt. Ebenezer Crafts's troop, Col. Larned's regt., which marched 23 April 1775 in response to the Lexington alarm of 19 April 1775; service, 12 days. He was also a Corporal in Capt. Nathaniel Healy's co., Col Ebenezer Learned's 4th regt., muster roll dated 1 Aug 1775; enlisted 10 May 1775, service 2 months 3 weeks 5 days. He was at the camps in Roxbury which surrounded the British troops after they seized gunpowder at Concord and Lexington. During that time he wrote a letter, dated Aug 1775, from the Roxbury Camps to his wife, Azubah, a copy of which survives today. At the time, his wife was in the advanced stages of pregnancy, about to give birth to Lyman.1
According to M. W. Waite, he died in the service, 14 May 1777, before his second child was born.2
