Notes:

Frances Mains, of Broken Arrow, was 19 when she married Commodore Kerr in Tulsa, 31 Aug 1932.¹ The couple apparently lived in Tulsa, and sometimes visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Mains of Broken Arrow, per newspaper articles.² Frances Kerr requested a divorce from Commodore Kerr, announced in the 26 Sep 1935 edition of Tulsa World.³

She may be the Frances Mains, of Broken Arrow, that married George A. Cantrell, of Tulsa, in Claremore, Rogers County, Oklahoma, 3 July 1937.⁴ Frances Cantrell that was granted a divorce from G. O.? Cantrell, announced in the 15 Nov 1938 edition of the Morning Examiner.⁵

She was age 23, a resident of Bartlesville, Washington County, Oklahoma when she married Albert W. Vanatta 7 June 1941. Per newspaper articles, the couple frequently visited her parents in Broken Arrow.⁶ By 18 Oct 1946, the couple had been granted a divorce.⁷

She apparently kept her former husband's surname, because on 7 Aug 1947, Mrs. Frances Vanatta of Bartlesville visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Mains of Broken Arrow.⁸

But by 22 Jan 1948, she had married R. J. Bixler, per announcement in the Broken Arrow Ledger, which says that Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Bixler of Bartlesville were guests over the week-end in the home of Mrs. Bixler's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Mains.⁹

Richard J. Bixler and Frances appear in the 1948 Bartlesville city directory on S Osage Ave.

In 1950 the couple was again living in Bartlesville. Richard J. Bixler was 29, born in Oklahoma, carpenter; his wife Frances M. Bixler, 35, born in Oklahoma, was a stenographer for an oil company. No children.

Frances died in Bartlesville, 14 Apr 1976, and is buried in Ochelata, Oklahoma (just south of Bartlesville).¹⁰ She shares a gravestone with her husband in the Ochelata Cemetery.

Henry appears in the 1800 Census living in Brimfield, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, with four boys under 10, a man 16-25, and another man 26-44, a girl under 10, two women between the ages of 26 - 44, and one woman over 45 years. He is enumerated in the 1810 Census living in Bakersfield, Franklin Co, VT, age 26 to 44, living with 3 boys under 16, 4 girls under sixteen, and a woman between 26 and 44. His brother, Moses, is also enumerated in Bakersfield in 1810. He is enumerated in the 1820 Census living in nearby Johnson, Franklin Co, VT, age 26 to 45, with a girl under 16, and a woman 45 or older. Also living in Johnson is his son, Henry. Henry, Sr. does not appear in any further census records, though his son, Henry, appears in Johnson for many decades after 1830. Many of the children shown here are taken from the private records of Michal Handy, a descendant of Cyrus Wheelock and Lois Ober. The exception is Henry, who was listed as a child of Henry Wheelock and Phoebe Dickinson by Carlyle Capron Wheelock in his "Wheelock Genealogy" manuscript at the New England Historical and Genealogical Society in Boston. There are two children of Henry and Phoebe for whom no original records have been found: Phoebe Wheelock, b. 12 May 1809 in Johnson, Vermont, and Phoebe Irene Wheelock, born 19 July 1816, location unknown, but possibly Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Some genealogies show the first Phoebe married to Calvin Jewett, but her age in the 1850 census does not come close to the 1809 date shown here (see Phoebe Wheelock, b. about 1826, granddaughter of Henry and Phoebe).

Simon and Rebecca are enumerated in the 1850 Federal Census in Florida, MA. Simon, age 38, Rebecca, age 36, Marian, age 13, Lyman, age 11, Tabitha, age 9, Hannah, age 7, all born in Vermont. Francis (male), age 5, Sophronia, age 3, and Junitta, age 1, born in Massachusetts.

The 1860 Census shows Simeon (sic) Wheelock living with children Lyman, 20, Tabitha, 18, Hannah, 16, Francis S, 14, Sophronia, 12, Sarah J, 10, Nancy, 8, Eliza, 6, and Florence, 5. Rebecca appears to have died by that time. The ages of his children Sarah and Sophronia in the census are not consistent with their Florida and Williamstown birth records; which are problematic. The Williamstown birth records show Sarah, Sophronia, Nancy, and an unnamed female all born at different times in 1852, which suggests the records are in error. Of these, Nancy's record is the only one that is consistent with the census records.

The 1870 Census shows a Simon Wheelock, age 70 (sic), living with Lovina, age 50. The 1880 Census shows him living in his daughter, Hannah's house.

The 1860 Adams, MA marriage record for Lovina and Simon indicate that this was the second marriage for each (135:28). Simon is identified as the son of Henry and Phoebe.

His death record identifies his parents as Henry Wheelock and Phebe Kant (?). His mother's birth place is given as Blackinton, which is part of North Adams, MA.
