Research Notes for Lydia Flint:

In 1880 she was living in Moline with her husband, Stillman W. Wheelock, and her niece, Mary Flint, age 45, single, born Vermont.

The following facts tie Lydia to her parents, Jonas Flint and his wife Lydia. While not a comprehensive proof, it at least shows the plausibility of the relationship, and supports the various genealogies on the internet that assert her parentage without much support. See, for example, FamilySearch, Lydia F. Flint profile.¹

Lydia (Flint) Wheelock's sister, Elizabeth Rawson, apparently inherited land from Lydia. On 12 Nov 1891, Elizabeth Rawson of Alstead, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, widow, quitclaimed to Mary J. Flint of Moline, for $370, several lots in Moline, calling her interest in the land "being that of an heir at law of my sister, Lydia F. Wheelock late of Moline Ill. deceased."²

Elizabeth Flint was born 20 Dec 1804 in Alstead, the daughter of Jonas and Lydia Flint.³ She married Jonathan Rawson before 2 Sep 1824, when their first child was born in Alstead.⁴ Jonathan Rawson died 29 Mar 1883, per gravestone, and is buried in East Alstead Cemetery, East Alstead, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.⁵ Elizabeth died just a few weeks after executing the deed mentioned above, 28 Nov 1891, and is also buried in the East Alstead Cemetery.⁶

Jonas Flint and Lydia Davis filed their intentions in Concord, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, 18 Nov 1802.⁷ They later moved to East Alstead, New Hampshire, and about 1836 moved to St. Charles, Illinois.⁸ It was in St. Charles that Stillman W. Wheelock met and later married Lydia Flint.⁹
