He was a resident of Rockton, Winnebago County when he wrote his will on 10 Oct 1899. It was proved on 26 March 1903. He left bequests to (1) his wife, Caroline B. Martin, (2) Alma L Farmer, (3) grandchildren Amy L. G.? Winsor, and Saidie Martin, children of George W. Martin and Lizzie Martin, (4) Edwin W. Martin, and (5) Fannie E. Brown. George W. Martin was nominated executor.¹

His obituary states that he left a wife and four children: G. W. Martin of Rockton, Mrs. Brown and E. W. Martin of Rockford, and Mrs. Wm. Farmer of Beloit.²

Alvin is identified as a child of Alvan and Olive by "The Litchfield Wheelocks", which states that he married Sophia Nelson, and moved to Silver Creek, NY. So, if the manuscript is correct, there can be little doubt that the Alvin Wheelock buried in the Sheridan, with his wife Sophia is the son of Alvan and Olive of Litchfield. But the same manuscript states that he was born 1 Sep 1787, and died 10 Nov 1865, which disagrees with his headstone in the Sheridan Cemetery, Chautauqua Co, NY.¹ To complicate matters, the birthdate implied by the headstone (30 Aug 1789) is too close to that of his sister, Betsey Wheelock (b. 29 Nov 1789 per the "Litchfield Wheelocks").

Alvin Wheelock, age 66, is enumerated in the 1855 New York census living in Sheridan, Chautauqua Co, NY, with his wife Sopha Wheelock, age 60, and his mother in law, Theodotia Nelson, age 87.

The 1884 administration of estate for Clarinda's father, Lewis Wheelock, refers to grandchildren Edward, and Mary Hedges, of Colden, NY, and Lewis Hedges, of Boston, NY. Clarinda is not mentioned.¹

Clarinda Hedges appears in the 1880 Census, living in Sardinia, NY (adjacent to Colden), with children Eddie, Lewis, and Mary, and husband John.

Clarinda's age in the 1850 census is 18, implying a birth date between 1831-2. Her gravestone says 13 Dec 1833, but that conflicts with her brother Orlando's birthdate of 30 July 1834, as given in the Foote genealogy, and consistent with the 1900 census.² Her obit, published 11 Mar 1882, states that she died 5 Mar 1882, aged 50, suggesting she was born in early 1882, or perhaps 13 Dec 1881.³
