"Wheelock Genealogy", by Carlyle Wheelock and Winifred Gonseth, 1955, shows two Joanna Wheelocks born to Jonathan and Elizabeth, the second, born later, marries Deacon Ephraim Carter. The evidence for this is not cited;
But record 103508 in "Daughters of the American Revolution", (Volume 104, pg 154) by Mrs. Genevieve Carter Reybold, proves that she descends from Deacon Ephraim Carter, who fought in the Revolutionary War, and cites the birth and death dates of his wife, Joanna Wheelock, as 1749 - 1803. Since a birth date of 1749 is later than the birth date recorded in the Vital Records, it is possible that the first Joanna Wheelock, born 1740, died, and a second Joanna Wheelock, born 1749, lived and married Ephraim Carter. Of course, it is also possible that the 1749 date is an incorrect transcription of 1740.
