This is probably the Samuel Wheeler (sic) that appears in the 1870 Census, living in Mt. Vernon, Lawrence Co, MO, age 58, born VT, with Ephraim Wheeler (sic), age 67, born MA, and Ephraim's wife, Ad. E., age 67, born MA. Ephraim is, no doubt, Samuel's brother, who according to "The Wights", by William W. Wight, also lived in Mt. Vernon. According to the same book, Samuel died unmarried.
