The 1851 Vermont marriage record for Alden and Elizabeth refers to Alden Wheelock of Bakersfield, VT. He was a stone mason, per record of marriage to Rosa Ann Snay.
The children of Alden and Elizabeth (Mary, Effie, Henrietta) are given by "The Family of John Perkins of Ipswich, Massachussetts", by Geo. A. Perkins, M.D., The Salem Press Publishing Co., 1889; researched by Clyde ____, grandson of Alma Elizabeth Wheelock, May 2003.
The Vermont Vital Records at the state level show Rosa Ann's last name to be Snow; but the town records, and her headstone identify the last name as Snay. (Research courtesy of Shannon Cochran, a descendant, Oct 2002.) Her marriage to Alden Wheelock was her first, his second.
Alden D. Wheelock at age 39, 6 feet 2 1/2 inches, dark complexion, grey eyes, sandy hair, born in Bakersfield, VT, occupation - mason enlisted in Company I, 10th Regement Vermont Infantry August 13, 1862 in Fairfield, VT for a term of 3 years. He was mustered in as a private at Brattleboro, VT Sept. 1,1862. He was listed as absent sick in General Hospital since Dec.13, 1862. He was discharged Feb. 10, 1863 at Brattleboro, VT, for a small hernia on the left side. (Src: Research kindly supplied by Clyde ____, great-grandson of Harold Alden Wheelock, May 2003.)
