There is a marriage record for Mrs. Marguarite Wheelock, "relict of the late Lieutenant Thompson Baxter Wheelock" in the 31 Dec 1836 issue of the Columbian Centinel. The middle name suggests that Thompson is a child of Abel and Catharine. Thompson B. Wheelock graduated from West Point in 1822. He served in the artillery. In 1829 he resigned and became President of Woodward College in Ohio, 1830-1833. He was reappointed as a 1st Lieutenant of Dragoons in 1833 and was involved with the Seminole War of 1836. Sickness drove him to suicide on 15 June 1836, at the age of 35. Ft. Wheelock in Marion County, Florida is named after him. (Src: Correspondence with David Eckert, Mar 2002).
