She was a resident of Panton when she married her first husband, Edwin Wilcox 4 May 1830. He was a resident of Bridport.

Philena Wilcox, residence unknown, was identified as an heir and next of kin of Mary Grandey (her sister) in an 1839 probate notice.¹

She moved to Jericho sometime before she married her second husband, Truman Field, 23 Feb 1840. After that, she lived in Peru, Clinton Co, NY, where she appears with her husband in the 1850 census: Truman Fields, age 43, cabinet maker, born VT, with Philena Fields, age 43, born in MA, Adelia Fields, age 19, born NY, James H. Fields, age 16, born NY, and Mary A. Fields, age 5, born NY.

James H. Field (aka James Henry Field), born circa 1834, identified his mother as Philena Field on his 22 Feb 1873 Wisconsin record of marriage to Clarissa Maria Reynolds. But his mother was probably not Philena, because she had not yet married Truman Field when he ws born. Likely his own mother died when he was very young, and Philena raised him to maturity.

She died 20 May 1852 while on a visit to her brother in Vienna.²

Philena (Wheelock) (Wilcox) Field was a close friend of Charity Bryant, whose same-sex marriage is documented in Charity and Sylvia: a same-sex marriage in early America, by Rachel Hope Cleves. Many of her letters to Charity are preserved in the Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History, Charity Bryant - Syliva Drake papers, Middlebury, Vermont.
