Silas B. Wheelock was a farmer, born in Hamburg, and lived there his entire life.

On 19 Apr 1834, Silas B. Wheelock bought from Zenas Smith a part of lot 33, township 9, range 7 of the Holland Land Company survey, in East Hamburg.¹ On 25 Sep 1846 Silas B. and his brother Harmon bought the west part of lot 34 from their father, Silas Wheelock.² On 1 Sep 1849, Harmon sold his interest in lot 34 to his brother, Silas B. Wheelock.³ On the same date Silas B., in turn, sold lot 33 to Harmon.⁴ An 1866 map of Hamburg shows S. B. Wheelock as an owner of lot 34.⁵ In 1871 he sold a portion of lot 34 to Horace White - his son-in-law.⁶ In 1880 he and Phoebe were living with their son-in-law, Horace Wayne White and his wife, Jane, in Hamburg.

During the last days of his life Silas suffered several strokes which left him paralyzed.⁷ He died in Hamburg 16 Nov 1897. He was affectionately called "Uncle Silas" by the community.⁸

Silas B. Wheelock and family were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Hamburg. Multiple records relating to this family are found in the church records.⁹
