WESTPORT -- Donald T. Wheelock Sr., 74, died at home Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997, after a long illness. He was the husband of Thelma L. (Scholes) Wheelock of Westport and son of the late Major W. and Sadie E. (Pierce) Wheelock.
Born in Fall River, he lived in Westport for 30 years and was a graduate of the former Del-La-Salle School in Newport, R.I.
He was employed by various construction companies as a welder until his retirement.
Mr. Wheelock was a World War II Navy veteran and loved fishing, boating, and the outdoors.
Survivors include his widow; a son, Donald T. Wheelock II of Fall River; four daughters, Joan A. Galford of Somerset, Mary Lou Rocha of Tiverton, R.I., Lynn Wheelock of Westport and Lori E. Rencurrel of Bristol, R.I.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are by the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road.

The private records of Persis (Park) Ivett state that Scinda had no children. Note that Scinda had an aunt, born in Charlton, MA, whose name is recorded in the Charlton Vital Records as Cynda. Scinda's headstone reads as follows: Scinda, daughter of Silas and Rena Wheelock, died Oct. 14, 1845, in the 37th year of her life.
